Vesta Christmas Party – Saturday 15th December

This Saturday Vesta hosts the Christmas party, starting at 13:00 there will be a buffet and mulled wine. The bar will be open with games galore for some honest family fun.

Feel free to bring friends and family along to enjoy the festivities and what Vesta has to offer! Bring your Christmas tinsel and Santa hats for the party look!

Following the afternoon fun, a pub quiz will be running from 18:00 for those wanting to move the party into the evening, with the bar running its usual hours for those wanting to partake.

Christmas Party Saturday 15th Dec Afternoon

Vesta Mulled Wine Christmas Party 2012Vesta’s Christmas Party will be held after outings on Saturday 15th December. This is a change to the original plan so rowers will not be afflicted with heavy hangovers when racing the Remenham Challenge Head on Sunday 16th.

The full details of the day haven’t been finalised yet, but I’d put a bet on mulled wine, mulled cider (if Thea has anything to do with it!), mince pies and there’s talk of a whole stilton cheese and biscuits!

The club will have its Christmas decorations up soon to get you in the mood after the Annual Dinner. All are welcome, young and old, just bring your festive spirit and santa hats.

Next Vesta Bar Quiz -21st November

Gordon has confirmed the next bar quiz will be held on Wednesday 21st November. Follow @vestarowing on Twitter for hints and tips… or in other words get to see the question paper before the exam.  Get your teams together for a prompt start at 8:30pm and a finish as close to 10pm as possible!

Fours Head ‘Four of a Kind’ Party

Fours Head Party Poster

Three's a crowd... but Four's a party!

Three’s a crowd, four’s a party!
With the Fours head taking place this weekend, it falls to the club to celebrate the crews entered and their (hopeful) success in the race.  To that end the club will be open ALL DAY, serving food and drinks to supply all those willing supporters down to cheer the final stretch along the Putney Embankment, and then for the tired crews to rehydrate with a well-earned pint.

The evening shenanigans will begin at 1930 with a fancy dress party themed around “Four of a Kind”, so come along with friends as teams, groups, comrades – or come alone representing 4 things yourself!

The club will dance until the small hours, so come prepared to rock out the dancing shoes, and party like there’s no training on Sunday*!!
*there is training on Sunday, man up.

New boat naming 4th November

ChampagneSave the date. There will be a ceremony at 12:30pm on Sunday 4th November at the club to name the new boats. The IV is to be called ‘Voracious’ and the VIII to be called ‘Dick Welch’ – hurrah for that!

Fireworks from Vesta balcony

FireworksBonfire night news! Hammersmith & Fulham are putting on fireworks in Bishops Park again this year on Friday 2nd November, which makes the Vesta Balcony the perfect viewpoint. And really, when Dick is putting on “Fireworks food” and the Vesta bar is serving its usual glorious array of beverages, why would you want to stand anywhere else? The bar will be open from 7pm and the fireworks are expected to start around 8pm. By the looks of the H&F website there may be James Bond theme, but how they do that with fireworks we can only guess…

Thursday night dinners return!

Please feed the animals

Warning! Hungry rowers!

Our lovely volunteers will once again start cooking hot meals on Thursday nights starting this week on 20th September. Food usually is ready about 8pm and costs around £4 for a ‘normal’ size portion. Watch out for the weekly reminder emails of what’s on the menu

and we ask that you let our chefs know if you’re intending to eat so they can cook about the right amount. All profits go to the boat fund. Any questions, please contact our Assistant Bar Steward, Thea.
