Development Men
The Men’s Development Squad will be coached by Alex Brown and James Unler. The beginning of season meeting will be at Vesta Rowing Club at 10:00 on Saturday 21st August, where a pre-season two week training plan will be handed out to make sure you hit the ground running in September.
The Development squad will take in complete beginners or those who have only completed learn to row courses in September of this year, starting on Saturday 4th September. The squad welcomes everyone who wishes to give rowing a go, but a reasonable standard of fitness and strength is required. The aim of the squad will be to race at the local head races (time trial races which run from January to April) and produce a high quality novice crew for the Head of the River Race (Saturday 2 April 2011).
After the Head of the River Race, from April to July, the squad will open up to more experienced rowers who do not meet the required standard for the Vesta Senior Men’s squad. There will be a week long training camp in Chester in May 2011 where skills in small boats will be polished. The new intake will compete with the established members of the Development squad for a seat in an eight rowing both at the local regattas and some of the big national events with the end of season goal being to qualify for the internationally renowned Henley Royal Regatta (which we achieved in June 2010).

The Women’s Development Squad will be coached by Paul Lorenzato and Jane Osborne. The beginning of season meeting will be at Vesta Rowing Club on Wednesday 1st September.
