Saturday 20th August – Blackstaffe Regatta
On Saturday Vesta holds its legendary annual club regatta, named after our most successful member, Harry Blackstaffe, who won gold in the single sculls at the 1908 Olympics.
The draw is out so check your emails! Events are the scratch mixed eights and the hotly contested mixed double sculls. Will Harry Bond win again for the third year and with another new partner? Remember it’s all for fun folks! Anyone taking it too seriously (complaining to umpire, obvious cheating, moaning, gneshing or whining) will be subject to cruel and unusual punishments.
There will be a themed Farmyard Party post-regatta. Prepare for costumes. I dread to think…
